about

"So you like trance music ha?? You better listen to this..."
That sentence changed Dixie Krystalz' life.
He only knew the dude for a couple of hours, soon enough to become his eternal best friend.
As an Israeli, Dixie has been listening to psytrance music since he was 13 years old. But at age 18, there was no turning back.
Instantly hearing the Finnish beat, Suomisaundi became the only psytrance genre he consumed ever since.
It was love at first sound.

Dixie became obsessed with collecting this rare music, and DJing allowed him to be the vessel that transmits it to the world.
Fast forward 22 years later, Dixie Krystalz gladly presents his debut compilation.

Encouraged by these rainbow sounds, meeting beloved and talented spuges, getting involved with two labels and DJing in Europe, India and Israel, Dixie curated a mixture of morning glory dancefloor smashers and eerie mind boggling tunes for your enjoyment. The concept accommodates various approaches to the genre, with sinister dusky tracks designated to make your brain squeak, your head dizzy and mind confused, followed by tracks that celebrate a rumbling dazzle of bright triumphant harmonies and melodies, that will uplift your spirit and elevate your feet towards the sun.

As Stanley Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange" is nothing short of extraordinary, so is Suomisaundi - that is the inspiration for the artwork. The film's title represents the contradictions of the organic, lively, sweet nature of life, versus the cold, disciplined and mechanical aspect of the constant oppression of the individual by society, in a dystopian capitalist world.
Suomisaundi is similar. It has lots of humor and authenticity but also cynicality and criticism. It can be happy and melancholic at the same time. It may be simple yet so complicated in its sound design. It makes completely distant genres like jazz and Finnish folk songs, or heavy metal and disco, match together. Artists may use sophisticated machines or just a smartphone or a barely operating laptop to create complex layers of spugedelia.
