Reipas Longos is an organic techno project of Jonas Cout from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Petri Pajunen from Helsinki, Finland. They both have been making music for years but this project started early 2021. As very typical for many things this time, also this EP was made without meeting physically. Actually the members of this duo have never met each other in person, only online.
Here is how they think of the project:
Jonas: -Rio de Janeiro is the paradise of beauty and chaos. It reflects in art as always. Sometimes we need to look thousands of kilometers till to find the perfect complement to your art. The coldness of the chilly Finland balances perfectly to the warmness of Brazilian People. Is in our opposite when the deepest learning is coming from so enjoy this art miscegenation.
Petri: -
Jonas can play many instruments really well. It’s very inspiring to work with such a talented multi-instrumentalist. On these tracks he played the guitar, the flute, the traditional Brazilian cavaco and even some other acoustic instruments. I tend to use a lot of hardware synthesizers and I always seem to go towards a timeless retro synth pop vibe with the analog gear.
Jonas’ original ideas usually have this a bit more joyous Latin American feeling and a lot of sounds and melodies. I brought in some Finnish melancholy and Scandinavian minimalism. I edited some more space to many parts and melodies and added some minor chords and notes to create those melancholic harmonies that I kind of always feel the music needs.
